If you are a new field supervisor who has not completed an initial training program, please complete the online course here,or contact Kathy Heltzer at 218-726-8935 for upcoming workshop dates. Completion of one of these training programs is required in order to supervise an MSW student. Supervisors are also required to have continued training at least every three years, which is probably why you are here! In this course, you will be asked to complete short online quizzes pertaining to the content of the course at the end of each module. This is not a pass/fail course. The main goal is to review how to be a quality supervisor for our students and for the field experience to be a positive one for you, your agency, and the field student. The entire online training can be completed in approximately two hours. You do not have to complete it all at once and can work at your own pace, as time allows. Support has been provided by the United States Children’s Bureau. The Department of Social Work was awarded a Children’s Bureau grant to enhance the training of Masters of Social Work (MSW) students for employment in critical settings such as tribal and/or public sector child welfare agencies. Other priorities of the grant are to increase the number of rural and tribal field placements, and to develop supervisor training models that will include on-line training.
