| Agency Description: |
The Indian Child Welfare Unit is a part of SLCSS. SLCSS is a county agency
who's mission is to protect and support families with children, and adults,
who experience poverty, vulnerability, and/or disability & to promote
self-sufficiency. A student placed in the ICWA Unit would work cooperatively
with the Fond du Lac Child Welfare Team to provide services that follow
the Indian Child Welfare Act and that are culturally sensitive to the needs
of Native American families. |
| Description of Field Activities |
Alternative response and child protection assessments, home studies, child
placement, protective supervision, and case management services. Methods
of intervention include collaboration with tribal social service agencies,
family and individual social work. Students would participate in teaming
of cases in providing direct service to children and families; court-related
services and case management activities. |
