The student will have the opportunity to meet students from all around the world and learn about different cultures, religious beliefs and family practices. Examples of student tasks and responsibilities include contacting newly admitted international students to welcome them to UMD and explain the mentorship program, matching new international undergraduate students with mentors, assisting with recruiting new mentors by publicizing the program and attending classes to present mentor program information to students, assisting with and attending mentor training, and contacting mentors weekly by phone to see how they are doing with their mentees and providing assistance and information as needed.
