| Agency Description: |
St. Louis County Intensive Family Based Services serves families with children that are residents of St. Louis County wishing to resolve family problems that threaten to dissolve the family or prevent the family from effectively functioning. Many of the families requesting service are involved with children protection services.
Though IFBS provides an array of counseling services, its main strength is family counseling and parent education.

| Description of Field Activities |
Students would have opportunities to assist in counseling families referred to IFBS. There would be extensive team supervision and support to enhance family counseling skills. There is the possibility of working with families in children protection including safety planning, court experience, petition or court report writing. There are opportunities for research in all aspects of County Child Welfare. Some examples of projects students have participated in are : interviewing foster children on their experiences, use of psychotropic medication with children in foster care, client satisfaction of users of IFBS, effects of implementation of concurrency planning in out of home placement.
