Jefferson Lines Offers Daily Bus Service from the UMD Campus to the Twin CitiesJefferson Bus Lines connects the UMD community, as well as Duluth area residents, to the Twin Cities and points beyond. The Jefferson Line pick up is right on UMD's campus at Kirby Circle (formerly the DTA bus stop), on Kirby Drive (see map to right). The service is seven days a week. The Daily Departure bus leaves UMD each afternoon at 3:50 p.m. and stops at Forest Lake, St. Paul Depot, Minneapolis Depot, the Amtrak Station, and the University of Minnesota Coffman Memorial Union, as well as other locations on Interstate 35. The bus leaves the Twin Cities for Duluth each morning. Tickets to the Twin Cities are only $29 one-way or $56 round trip. Riders with a U Card or student ID will receive an additional 15 percent off regular priced daily service. You can save even more with special 7 and 14-day advance fares (no additional discounts apply). Tickets can be purchased on the UMD campus at the UMD Stores, Street Level at 1120 Kirby Drive. Effective February 9, 2009, there will be a $15 charge to reissue an unused ticket. In addition, on Fridays and Sundays, a Movie Express bus is offered. See details below. MOVIE EXPRESS BUSThe Movie Express bus offers premium service to the Twin Cities on Fridays, returning on Sunday. Included in your ticket price is bottled water and a snack. Enjoy the ride straight to the Twin Cities with the first stop being the Blaine Park & Ride. You'll have less time on the road and entertainment to and from the Twin Cities while viewing a recently released DVD. Tickets are $29 one-way or $56 round trip. See below for pick-up and drop-off locations. Student discounts do not apply to the Movie Express Bus.
