Graduate Program Commencement
Commencement is a celebration of all you have accomplished.
Participation is voluntary, but graduates are encouraged to participate.
Students interested in participating in the upcoming commencement ceremony that have not yet completed degree requirements should talk with their Director of Graduate Studies.
Graduate Program Commencement is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2013, 7 p.m., Romano Gymnasium, on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
Students interested in participating in the commencement ceremony must adhere to the following deadlines.
- Submit an approved Graduate Degree Plan and Assign/Update Examining Committee form to the UMD Graduate Office (420 Darland Administration Building) by February 20, 2013.
- Graduates must obtain the Application for Degree from the UMD Graduate Office. Please note that the Application for Degree for graduate students is NOT A DOWNLOADABLE FORM and is only available from the UMD Graduate Office.
- March 1, 2013, is the deadline to submit both the Application for Degree and Commencement Attendance Questionnaire to the UMD Graduate Office; this deadline applies to all master's programs. Please complete the Commencement Attendance Questionnaire even if you do not plan to attend commencement.
- Purchase your cap, gown, hood, and tassel at Lower Level UMD Stores.
Graduate students can only participate in one ceremony. If a student does not participate in the ceremony for which he or she is scheduled, the student will not be allowed to participate in any subsequent ceremony.
