Attendance at Commencement
Graduate Program Commencement is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, UMD Romano Gymnasium
Subject to satisfying participation requirements, attendance at commencement is voluntary. However, all candidates are individually recognized at the ceremony and must inform the UMD Graduate School whether or not they will attend. The Director of Graduate Studies will determine whether or not a particular student should participate in the event.
Graduate students interested in participating in the Spring 2010 commencement ceremony must adhere to the following deadlines.
- Submit an approved Degree Program to the UMD Graduate School office (431 Darland Administration Building) no later than February 1, 2010.
- All graduate students (other than M.Ed., M.E.H.S., M.A.P.L. and M.Spec.Ed.) obtain the Application for Degree and Commencement Attendance Questionnaire in the UMD Graduate School office. Please note that the Application for Degree for graduate students is not a downloadable form as it is for undergraduate students, and is only available in the UMD Graduate School office.
- March 1, 2010, is the deadline to submit both the Application for Degree and Commencement Attendance Questionnaire to the UMD Graduate School office. Please complete the Commencement Attendance Questionnaire even if you do not plan to attend commencement.
- Purchase cap, gown, hood, and tassel at Lower Level UMD Stores. The deadline for online orders is April 16, 2010.
Graduate students can only participate in one ceremony. If a student does not participate in the ceremony for which they are scheduled, the student will not be allowed to participate in any subsequent ceremony.
Questions regarding this policy should be directed to the UMD Graduate School office (218/726-7523) not the UMD Commencement Office.
