Visit UMD

We Invite You to Visit the UMD Campus

The Office of Admissions believes that campus visits are an essential part of any college search, and so we invite you to come explore UMD. We know you will be impressed with our campus, the friendly UMD community, and our beautiful city by the lake. So don't just read about it -- visit UMD and experience the lake effect for yourself!

Capacity for tours and visit programs is limited and will fill up early during peak visiting times. To avoid disappointment, be sure to schedule your campus visit with us as soon as possible.

Campus Tours

Student volunteers conduct campus tours on most weekdays (M-F) and during Campus Visit program events. Availability of tours while classes are not in session at UMD will vary. Appointments with admissions counselors may also be scheduled in addition to the tour. With at least two weeks notice, academic appointments can also be scheduled and are subject to schedule availability.

Campus Visit Programs

Campus visit programs give you the opportunity to explore UMD in the company of other prospective students and families. Each program includes an informational session, a campus tour, and a chance to meet with representatives from each of our five collegiate units. Visit programs last approximately 2.5 - 3 hours. These are great visits for students early in their college search looking for a broad overview of UMD.

Self-Guided Tours

If you are not able to visit us during our normal tour times or a campus visit program, you are welcome to take a self-guided tour. During most weekends other than semester breaks or university holidays, many of our campus buildings are open for you to walk around and explore. Self-guided tour booklets are located at the Solon Campus Center information desk and the Kirby Student Center information desk. You can also download a copy along with the Self Guided Tour Booklet & Campus Map (.pdf). A mobile-friendly version is available here. Look for the QR codes posted around campus.
